Veneers UK is a very popular dentistry practice that gives the smile a beautiful appeal. Particularly since statistics show that nearly half the British population is unhappy with its oral health.

If you are interested in getting veneers UK, here’s everything you should know about the industry. In addition to costs and alternatives.

    What Are Veneers?

Veneers are a treatment in dentistry designed to correct numerous cosmetic dental issues. The thin shells can hide all deformities from pigmentation to chipping and size irregularities.

Like many prosthetics in cosmetic dentistry, veneers can come in many different materials. To achieve a beautiful smile, your dentist will place the veneers on the front of your teeth. Before placing your veneers, your dentist will have to file down your teeth.

    Veneers UK Procedure Overview

Application of veneers UK is similar to any other country. The procedure is standard globally and the results vary depending on the expertise of your dentist.

There are two types of procedures:

    • Veneer placement with filing
    • Veneer placement without filing

Filing refers to the process of removing the enamel from the dental tissue. This is an important step because it creates room for the veneers.

The veneers that require filing of your teeth beforehand are usually thicker in structure. Whereas veneers that don’t require filing are usually ultra-slim in terms of structure.

The procedure involves a lengthy process of planning and imaging. Because your veneers will replace your natural teeth, the designing process must take place with care.

Similarly to high-end dental clinics designing veneers UK, at Dentakay we use advanced technologies for screening and imaging to give you the best-fitting veneers.

    Step 1: Treating Underlying Issues

Before starting with veneers and taking impressions, your dentist will evaluate your oral health. This is to ensure the right foundations for treatment are established.

If you have any signs of cavities, inflammation, or gum disease; you’ll go through a period of treatment. Whether you’re opting for veneers UK or abroad, this step is crucial.

    Step 2: Discussing Your Goals

Next comes the phase of discussing your goals. Here you’re exchange information with your dentist. You say what you want and they would give you recommendations to achieve the best results.

Once you reach a final achievement, if you’re receiving treatment  in an advanced clinic for your veneers UK, your dentist will use modern software to predict your appearance. At Dentakay, this technology is also available.

Step 3: Filing Down Your Teeth

If you’re opting for thick veneers, your dentist will file down your teeth using a drill. This step is painless and you’ll typically go through it under the effect of local anesthesia. Once it’s over, your teeth will look like baby teeth.

But this is temporary. If you’re opting for CAD/CAM veneers your dentist will place your veneers immediately. If veneers will come from a lab, you’ll likely to wear temporary veneers until the permanent ones are ready.

Filing down your teeth isn’t a necessary step if you’re opting for thin veneers.

    Step 4: Taking Impressions

Next comes the step of taking impressions. Your dentist can do this digitally using the CAD/CAM technology or manually using moulds. With the CAD/CAM technology, computer-assisted cameras take measurements of your mouth and send this information to a software.

In addition to this, there’s an important step of filming your movements around the mouth. The software along with the measurements and videos of your mouth creates the best fitting veneers for you.

All the information in terms of color and shape will be factored in. The limitations of the CAD/CAM technology are material-related. With this technology you have to opt for ceramic veneers only.

On the other hand, there’s the manual impression taking. During manual impression taking you’ll bite onto a mould to get an accurate representation of your mouth. Your dentist will send this mould to an off-site lab to design your veneers.

    Types of Veneers UK

There are several types of veneers but the most common type of veneers UK is composite veneers. The available material for veneers range from high quality to practical.

There are differences in terms of durability, aesthetic appearance, longevity, and even application. Composite veneers are the common option among people opting for veneers UK because they are an affordable and a practical option.
