“Turkey teeth” is a term for cosmetic dental treatments done in Turkey. But over time it became a common term to refer to any teeth that look overly white, bulky or poorly done. In many cases, even when the treatment wasn’t even done in Turkey.
This negative reputation created an impression that dental treatment in Turkey has one specific look and even sometime can be unsafe. In reality, the approach and results can vary between clinics, just as it does anywhere else.
Some clinics focus on very dramatic cosmetic results, and some can take a more conservative and oral health-based approach based on patient’s teeth and facial structure. The same applies to treatment planning, materials, aftercare and how much healthy tooth structure is preserved.
For patients considering dental treatment in Turkey, the important thing is not the label “Turkey teeth,” but choosing the right clinic and understanding exactly what treatment is being recommended and why.
Is Turkey Teeth Safe?
Dental treatment in Turkey can be safe, but the quality can change from clinic to clinic. There are a lot of things to pay attention to when choosing the right clinic, which you can find in our detailed guide here.
But dental clinics in Turkey are directly regulated by the Ministry of Health, and clinics that treat international patients have extra rules they must comply with. The safest and most important thing to do while choosing a clinic is to check both the clinic’s and dentist’s qualifications. And choose a clinic that is transparent with treatment plans, the materials they use and the aftercare they provide.
It is also worth checking whether any accreditations can be verified. Independent accreditation such as JCI can provide extra reassurance. Dentakay’s Nish, Şişli and Antalya clinics are JCI-accredited.
Most importantly, do not choose based on price or before-and-after photos alone. Make sure you understand what treatment is being recommended and why.
Why Do People Choose Turkey Teeth?
So here are the top 3 reasons why people consider cosmetic dentistry in Turkey.
1. Turkey Teeth Can Cost Less
We all know getting the right tweaks for your smile can break your budget. Especially in places like the USA and the UK, where you can expect to pay over $20,000 for full mouth veneers.
It is for this reason that many people are turning to health tourism. In the last decade, it has become a trend for patients to travel abroad to destinations where health care is affordable. And among those destinations, Turkey easily takes the cake.
Previously only a perfect holiday destination, Turkey is now drawing in people for reasons other than its beautiful nature. From hair transplant to cosmetic dentistry, Turkey’s become the global “Doctor Miami.”
Many of our dentistry patients at Dentakay talk about how Turkey teeth offered them a way out of their misery. With procedures that would cost far less than in the UK and the US, patients can now easily get the tweaks they have always wanted.
A full set of veneers in Turkey would not exceed $4,000. You can learn about the cost of veneers in the link attached What Veneers Cost in Turkey. While costs are one of the big attractions for health tourists, they are not the only reason why the destination is popular.
Our CEO, Onur Akay, further expanded on this in his interview to Sky News about how currency exchange rates play a big role here considering it works in favour of international patients. This is why it makes dental treatments in Turkey more cost-effective; especially for visitors coming from countries having currencies bearing stronger value.
2. Advanced technologies used in treatments
When it comes to your smile, you simply can never compromise on quality for costs. Turkey Teeth is the go-to for more than its affordable costs for cosmetic dentistry. It’s more about its performance and quality of treatment. You have many of the cutting-edge technologies that don’t just restore your oral functions, but comprehensively transform the aesthetic aspect of your smile.
For instance, at Dentakay, our cosmetic dentistry procedures include the E-max technology which is a technology that gives you a Hollywood Smile with a natural light transmission that makes your Hollywood Smile look extremely authentic.
But one of the biggest leaps in dental technologies is in fact the CAD/CAM, otherwise known as CEREC Crowns or 3Shape technology. This technology has revolutionized the practice and it is now available in Turkey.
The CAD/CAM technology now allows for one-day Hollywood Smile. The device couples artificial intelligence and 3D printing to not only give you a time-efficient treatment, but an extremely customizable smile.
The device has a camera that captures video and image footage of your mouth from the inside as well as the outside. The software then uses this information to design the shape and colour of your veneers. After this, the software sends the information to the 3D printer to instantly print out your porcelain veneers. And just like that, you get a completely natural smile. This technology is especially of advantage to health tourists who want to finish their treatment ASAP.

3. Luxury Services for International Patients
Patients find that Turkey is well-versed in terms of handling international patients. Which is a major reason behind the success of its health tourism, particularly cosmetic dentistry. Many patients haven’t been to Turkey and the idea of moving to a foreign country that doesn’t speak your mother language can be intimidating.
Add to that the overwhelming anxiety that comes with getting a cosmetic procedure like Turkey teeth and you are dealing with an unpleasant situation.
But thankfully, that is not an issue that you need to worry about as a health tourist in Turkey. Many dental clinics including Dentakay address these concerns by offering a selection of luxury services. We always take it up a notch in terms of our services to facilitate your stay in Turkey.
From hotel reception to private Transport, luxury 5-star accommodation, to professional translation. Every aspect of your treatment will be covered by us at Dentakay.
The NHS Dental Crisis and Dental Tourism to Turkey
Access to NHS dental care remains as the biggest issue in England. In February 2026, Healthwatch said dental access continues to be one of the main problems reported by the public, while its latest research found that more people are turning to private dentistry as NHS access remains difficult. Dr Gülay Akay highlighted in the Daily Mail the desperation of patients facing severe tooth problems due to neglect, leading some to resort to extreme measures like pulling their teeth as Grant Lakey mentioned in his interview with ITV.
As Dr Gülay Akay stated, “The initial group of 15 ‘health tourists’ who I saw at my Istanbul dental hospital in 2019 grew to more than 2,200 last year. This year those numbers will reach 5,500 – with patients from the UK now making up to 60 per cent of our clientele. And it shows no sign of slowing down.” With the crisis growing, Turkey has emerged as a cost-effective and quality option for dental care, providing relief to patients struggling to access treatment in the UK.
Plus, let’s not forget the added advantage of getting dental work done in an exquisitely beautiful country. Not only this but it also offers a perfect blend of rich history, stunning beaches and vibrant culture. Dental tourists can conveniently combine their treatment with a vacation; what more could one want? Moreover, Turkey’s strategic location is also a plus. This makes it easily accessible from many parts of the world.
To sum up, the success stories of our patients like Grant Lakey, who found solace in Dentakay’s dental services, prove that misconceptions about “Turkish teeth” are just that – misconceptions. As long as patients do their research and choose reputable clinics like ours, they can safely take full advantage of the benefits of Turkish dentistry and discover a win-win situation for both their dental health and travel goals.

Certified Turkey Teeth FAQs
Do they shave your teeth down for Turkey teeth?
Not always. How much shaving needed is dependant on the treatment. Veneers usually require less shaving than crowns while some cases don’t need it at all. This should be decided based on the condition of the teeth rather than following the same approach for every patient.
How long do Turkey teeth last?
This entirely depends on the type of treatment, materials, oral hygined and habits like teeth grinding. Veneers, crowns, and implants all have different lifespans and care instructions.
How long do you need to stay in Turkey for dental treatment?
While the length of stay can depend on the treatment, at Dentakay most treatments are completed between 3 to 5 days. Some treatmetns like implants can require more than one visit because of the healing time needed between the procedures.
Can Turkey teeth be replaced or repaired?
In many cases, veneers and crowns can be repaired or replaced if they become damaged or need to be changed. What is possible depends on the condition of the restoration and the tooth underneath it.
